This guide will help you understand Item rarity within D2R. There are several different gear rarity levels in D2:R, with roles and limitations assigned to each. There are upgrade routes for certain gear levels that include sockets for certain types.

Gear Rarity Levels in Diablo II: Resurrected

There are five primary categories of items, each with distinct colors for its name:

 Normal or Normal Socketed

 Magic

 Rare

 Set

 Unique

There are also Ethereal versions of all of these kinds of gear. This is a unique state of the gear where the armor has both great benefits and a major disadvantage: it's not repaired.

Although any item of any rarity can drop at nearly any difficulty and level in game, the higher the level of game, the more Rare, Unique, and Set items you'll encounter. Adding Magic Find items will increase your chance of receiving incredible drops.

The various types of gears and qualities are able to be modified or upgraded using this Horadric Cube. For all recipes relating to gear check out our separate guide:

Normal Rarity Gear in Diablo II: Resurrected

Normal quality items includes any products that do not possess magical properties of their own, except for built-in properties like defense to protect armor, or damage for weapon.

 Basic Information on Normal Gear:

The item's name is White (Normal) or Grey (Normal Socketed)

 No magic properties

Can have up to the max number Sockets weapons (1-6), Chest Armor (1-4), Shield (1-4), Helm (1-3)

Percentage change in Gambling: 0 1

Items of normal socketed gear that have anywhere from 1-6 Sockets that can accept Jewels, Gems or Runes. Normal Socketed Chest armor, Helms weapons, shields and other items are the only gear items that are able to create Runewords. Normal Socketed armor enhanced by Runewords is a major source of end-game equipment for players who are playing fully with Lord of Destruction (LoD) expansion enabled.

It is possible to create Normal Socketed Weapons such as Chest Armor or Head Armor or Shields made of normal Normal unsocketed pieces by using an instrument called the Horadric Cube.

Magic Rarity Gear in Diablo II: Resurrected

Magic items have 1-2 random Magic properties.

The basics of Magic Gear Facts:

Name of item is in Blue

 Has 1-2 random Magic properties

It is possible to have up to four sockets in Chest Armor as well as Weapons and Shields. Helms contain 1-3 sockets.

Percentage of change in gambling: 90 percent (9 on 10)

Magic items are likely to an initial Prefix, Suffix or both. The likelihood of it being one of these three is the following:

 Just a Suffix: 50%

 Just a prefix: 25 25%

Both a prefix and a Suffix The percentage is 25%.

Prefixes and Suffixes change depending on the item that is being employed. For instance, Melee Weapons can have attributes like Attack Rating and +Damage. Armor will have defensive properties such as +Defense. +Mana items are the most popular for cast classes. Jewelry is more likely to carry bonus points to Magic Find.

There are Horadric Cube recipes you can utilize to make Magic Amulets, Magic Rings, Magic Shield, put Sockets on Magic objects, or Reroll the affixes of Magic objects. In general, Magic products aren't fascinating enough that they warrant taking a look through the Horadric Cube However, rerolling is popular for Jewels and especially small Charms. It is also possible to use it with the Horadric Cube to add 1-2 sockets to unsocketed Chest Armor or Head Armor, Shield, or weapons. You cannot add sockets to an already socketed item.

Runewords cannot be used in magical items.

Magic items are at the beginning class of quality where items need to be Identified before you are able to use them. Rare sets, unique, and set items also need to be identified. You can identify objects in the field by using a Scroll of Identify/Tome of Identify. Or, you can request Deckard Cain to identify the items you have in town. He'll charge you 100 for this service until you save him using the quest line Look for Cain -- after that, he will Identify objects for free. It is not possible to apply any Unidentified item.

Here are some examples of the Magic-quality items that you can come across.

While the majority of Magic items will be replaced swiftly by better quality Rare and unique items, the one class that is comprised of Magic items that remain the most popular at all levels is Charms. The majority of Charms are Magic top-quality, with the exception of three Unique charms.

Rare Gear in Diablo II: Resurrected

Rare gear is the most magical of items that has more affixes and the use of a unique random name. The names appear in yellow, but the properties are listed in blue. Instead of having a title like "Holy The Breastplate of the Big" it could have a name like "Skull Carapace". Rare items may have 2-6 magical properties among the available Suffixes and Prefixes that are appropriate for the equipment.

 Basic Rare Gear Information:

The item's name appears in Yellow

 Has 2-6 random Magic properties

Can have 1-2 sockets in Chest Armor, Head Armor, Shield, and Weapon.

Percentage change in Gambling roughly 10 percent (1 in 10)

Rare items may have three prefixes or 3 suffixes in a single item, but only one Prefix or Suffix can be duplicated. It is also not possible to have more than one prefix or suffix in a single group that have the identical effect (ie. cannot have two +Resist All suffixes). However, you could include a Prefix and Suffix that do the same similar thing. An example of this could be a Rare weapon is rolled with the Fiery prefix (+15-25 Minimum , and Maximum of 31-60 Fire Damage) with the suffix Burning (+5-9 Minimum and +10-20 Maximum Fire Damage); this would be permitted.

Rare gear cannot take Runewords, not even those that are short enough to fill the small space.

Players who choose to play with having the (LoD) expansion enablement rely mostly on good Rares to gear. Without access to Runes, Runewords, or Jewels, any Socketed Rares are added by Gems.

Set Gears to play Diablo II: Resurrected

Sets are equipment items that, when worn together they create a bigger whole than the sum of its pieces. Sets create extra bonuses according to the number of items of the Set you have installed. This can include set bonuses that are partial in which you can enjoy certain abilities that are not available if you only have a specific number of items from the set equipped.

 Basic Set Item Information:

 Item name appears in Green

Set Bonus properties that have both static properties and Set Bonus properties

There must be several items in the same set to earn bonuses (varies by set)

There are predetermined numbers of sockets based on the configuration

You can only have one socket for a specific Chest Shield, Helm or Weapon through Larzuk Quest in Act V, once per level of difficulty

Percent change of Gambling around 0.10% (1 for 1,000))

One of the most effective examples to use for illustration could be Angelic Rainment set, a very low-level set with melee characters in mind.

By themselves by themselves, these four items are nothing more than mediocre Magic items. But once you begin joining pieces The benefits will increase. Not only can you get an impressive set of bonuses when you have 2 or 3 items, but you also get different bonuses dependent on what items you are using to make these combinations:

2 set items: Overall bonus +10 Dexterity

2 set item includes Angelic Wings: +75 Life

2 set item comprises Angelic Halo: + (12 Per Level of Character) 144-1188 Attack Rating (Based on Character Level)

2 set item includes Angelic Mantle: +150 Defense

2 set item contains Angelic Sickle: +75 Improved Damage

Set items 3: Bonus +50 Mana

The set 3 item comes with Angelic Wings: +1 To All Skills

3 set item includes Angelic Halo: +50% Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items

3 set item includes Angelic Mantle: Fire Resist +50%

3 set item includes Angelic Sickle 30 percent More Attack Speed

 Bonus set in full:

 Half Freeze Duration

 All Resistances +25

40% Higher Chance of Being able to get Magic Items

 Regenerate Mana +8%

 +10 Dexterity

 +50 Mana

Be aware that you must possess all of the items available to benefit from Set Bonuses. For an Angelic Rainment set, it's possible to wear two Angelic Halo rings, since they are not Unique, and they will double up on Specific Item Bonuses. They cannot give credit towards bonuses for the entire set.

However, the majority of Sets aren't very popular for end-game gearing. There are often higher properties using individual items than sets. Additionally, unless you're engaged in trades frequently purchasing a complete set isn't easy. There are a few sets that remain popular - Sigon's Complete Steel for leveling or equipment for mercenaries and The Griswold's Legacy for Paladins, Immortal King for melee (not just Barbarians) and Tal Rasha's Wrappings for Sorceresses are often praised by seasoned players. Some have good items that work well as a set, or with just a couple pieces. It is the Angelic Wings amulet + Angelic Halo rings is often touted as a great combination for melee characters who are having trouble getting hits due to the high Attack Rating this two-set combination gives.

Research your class or specification and you'll be able to find suggestions on Set items as well as other. Even if you're not interested in collecting an entire Set, Set objects from established sets like those mentioned above are highly tradeable.

Unique Gear in Diablo II: Resurrected

Unique gear is the basis of many gearing strategies Use Normal Socketed armor, with Runewords in the Weapon, Body Armor and Helm (and Shield, if you have), and then make sure to fill in the remaining things with Unique gear. Some unique gear is better than possible Runeword gear in the affected slots.

 Basic Unique Item Facts:

Item name is mentioned in Tan

It has static properties, however most properties are randomized within the capacity

It is possible to have predetermined numbers of sockets in accordance with the set

You can only have one socket added to a single Chest, Shield, Helm or weapon through the Larzuk the quest of Act V, once per level of difficulty

 Percent change of Gambling approximately 0.05 1 % (1 for 2000)

Like the name suggests, you are only able to use only one unique piece in each slot at a given time. You are able to carry an entire set apart from Unique pieces however, there will be no duplicates. You are, however, able to keep more than one of the same design in your stash. It's not often that this comes into play with the exception of three items: Rings, Charms, and Weapons for dual-wielding classes like the Barbarian or Assassin. There are three Unique Charms within the game, and while you're allowed to carry three of them on your list, you are unable to take more than one of them on your inventory. The identical Unique Charm will not be available within the same game.

Unique items have set names and characteristics (with the possibility of Roll ranges). You can add up to 1-socket to Chest Armor or Helm Shield or Weapon.

Some abilities only available only on Unique items are Absorbs (Damage), Critical Strike Crushing Blow Deathly Strike, Defense vs. Missile, Hit Blinds Target, hit Causes Monster to flee, Hit Freezes Target, Ignores Target Defense, Open Wounds +Fire Skills Striking, Attacking, If Hit.

There are also some that will only spawn for characters who have LoD enabled.
